artist statement

In most of my work I am incorporating movement or a sense of movement. My current body of prints is inspired in part by kinetic sculpture and explores connections between printmaking and sculpture, and the making of prints with sculptural qualities. Through the combination of modern power tools and traditional printmaking methods I am creating images that imply 3-dimensional space, as well as movement in time. I try to evoke different senses of mass, space, movement and energy in each piece as I change the structure, form and properties of the mark making.

This body of prints began with a focus on creating individual forms. It evolved into the creation of interacting forms, and recently I began experimenting with taking the body of work back to sculpture.
